Pirouette is proud the be an approved centre for ISTD DDE teacher training. We offer 5 genres of DDE teaching exams to students who are 16+ and these are Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, National and Classical Greek.
What is DDE teacher training?
What does DDE stand for?
DDE stands for Diploma in Dance Education. It is an integral part of training to become a knowledgable and safe dance teacher.
What it includes?
DDE's have 5 units.
Unit 1 - preparing for safe dance teaching
Unit 2 - observing, assisting and teaching practice
Unit 3 - intermediate exam in the particular genre
Unit 4 - dance practice (2 hour practical exam)
Unit 5 - child and cognitive development
What you gain
This is a level 4 qualification that is government recognised. As a qualified dance teacher it creates a great pathway for a new teachers career. With this full qualification you can apply for a membership with the ISTD and enter children into exams.
Requirements
At Pirouette you can start training at 16 years old and from there take the Unit 4 practical exam from 18+. Intermediate exams are not required to register for DDE teacher training at Pirouette as we can put you through these at the dance school.
